Set up AutoTap from Windows
You only need the PC once. After setup, everything happens on your iPhone or iPad.
Download AutoTap Setup for Windows
For Windows 10 and 11. About 105 MB, and it updates itself from then on. It also needs Apple’s free Apple Devices app, which Setup installs for you if it’s missing.
What you need
- A PC with Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
- Apple Devices, free from the Microsoft Store. It lets your PC talk to your iPhone or iPad over USB. iTunes works too.
- Your iPhone or iPad, a USB cable that carries data, and your Apple Account.
- LocalDevVPN, free from the App Store, on your iPhone or iPad.
Steps
- Install Apple Devices. AutoTap Setup can’t work without it, so it offers to install it for you. Or get it from the Microsoft Store and open it once. Plug in your iPhone or iPad, unlock it, and tap Trust when it asks.
- Install AutoTap Setup. Run the installer you downloaded above. If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. Then open AutoTap Setup from the Start menu.
- Connect. Setup finds your iPhone or iPad. Keep it unlocked and plugged in until Setup says it's done.
- Sign in with your Apple Account, then enter the code Apple sends you. Your password goes straight to Apple. It's only saved if you turn on “Remember my password”, and then only in Windows Credential Manager.
- Install. Setup installs AutoTap and prepares your device. If your iPhone asks you to turn on Developer Mode, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode, turn it on, restart, and confirm.
- Connect LocalDevVPN on your iPhone or iPad. AutoTap reaches your device through it.
- Open AutoTap, sign in, take a screenshot, place your spots, and start tapping.
If something goes wrong
- Setup can't find your iPhone: make sure Apple Devices is installed, unlock your iPhone and tap Trust, and try another cable or USB port.
- “Windows protected your PC”: expected for now. Click More info, then Run anyway.
- The Setup window is blank: install Microsoft's WebView2 Runtime, then open Setup again.
- Still stuck: create a ticket in our Discord, or email autotap022@gmail.com, with a screenshot and Setup's log (Export Log in Setup saves it), from
%USERPROFILE%\Library\Logs\AutoTap Setup\installer.log.
